Left Brain - Right Brain

Which dominates? Tonight, both of my brain hemispheres got a workout.

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of meeting Terri A., who came to the Little Red Barn to learn how to spin. We had a lovely time working with fiber, meeting the critters, and enjoying a cup of coffee. I got a chance to drop spindle a little bit myself, with some mystery roving I found in the stash. Whatever it is, I think it has some bunny in it. Very pretty roving.

Then after dinner, I returned to the Barn to putter around with some projects I had rediscovered. I finished a short scarf that only lacked a few rows and a button to be complete. It's knit in garter stitch in some really funky fiber I spun and plied with thread. Predominantly sage wool is punctuated with bits of other colors, purple, orange, blue, and a bit of metallic sparkle, along with big fluffy locks that add bulk and texture. Which button? This one, or that one? My right brain stretched and sighed.

Then the left brain cried out for order. I pulled stuff out of the bookcase and tidied up the mishmash of books, magazines, handouts, bags and bundles. Most of it managed to fit back on the shelves when I was done, but in a more organized fashion. A few magazines and papers went in the trash.

But what's this I have unearthed? Yarn samples spun at retreats and seminars. Silk, wool, soysilk, colors and shapes. The pile looks like what you'd find if you lifted the lid on a treasure chest. What can we make with this? Hmmmmm.

Stretch and yawn. I'll think about it tomorrow.

Must have been a day for that. I did the exact thing - mix of working on project and organizing, cleaning out. Can't wait to see what you do with the samples!

  2. Oooh! I would so make one of those chevron wraps out of these. They are beautiful. And since you are on a roll, wanna come over and work on my room?

  3. Well, it looks like a mixed warp to me. Would't it be a pretty shawl?

  4. Oh here is an idea for a knitted wrap - perfect for bits. http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTjustify.html and I know you need more projects!
