Heaven for Your Fingers
Some of the beautiful alpaca samples I got to spin and evaluate this year.
I've had the privilege of judging the Spin-Off Competition for the State of Texas Alpaca Ranchers this past month, and it's been a tactile treat. Pal Rita and I have judged the TxOLAN (regional alpaca group) show the past four years and I learn something new every time. But since the STAR show came so close on the heels of the "Share the Harvest" Gift Market, we've been spinning our fingers to the bone, sprinting to the deadline.
It's all over but the ribbon awarding, now, and the results will be displayed at the Kid N Ewe festival in Boerne in two weeks. I love finally getting to see pictures of the animals once they are matched up with their fiber, along with the beautiful ribbons they win. If you're in the Hill Country during the weekend of November 12-14, do drop by the Kendall County Fairgrounds and say hi! The farm will have a vendor booth there, with a big sittin'-and-spinnin' area for our visitors.
